A friend of mine and I we're looking for a vegetarian friendly place up on the Vaughan area. We asked a local gas station for any recommendations and we suggested Hanna's by Rutherford and Thornhill Woods. We were surprised that it actually looked nice inside. The outside doesn't do it any justice and you would most probably expect a typical diner judging its facade.
We ordered the cold appetizer with five choices. The babaganoush was a bit tangy for my taste, but the marinated mushrooms and roasted eggplants were delicious. The appetizer also came with a hefty pita basket that included 2 whole wheat and 2 white whole pitas. We also ordered a chef salad (similar to an Israeli salad except with chunks of avocado and mint) it was very refreshing. For main course we had the Falafel plate (with enough Humus and Tahini to bring home) and home-made potatoes. The Falafels were a bit small (it came with 5) but in a way it was a good thing, cause we had no room to fit all that.
Service was good, but would have been nice if the waitress smiled. Can't really complain about that, but it is nice to have a happy and cheerful server.
With 2 beers the total bill came just under $50 including a 15% tip.
Would definitely return.
